Minister’s Corner

Shalom aleikhem! שָׁלוֹם עֲלֵיכֶם Peace be upon you!

Thank you for joining us this morning as we press pause on life for a couple of hours to focus and re-center on the One Who created us. God in the past commanded mankind to observe the Sabbath under the penalty of death. Jesus, God incarnate, came teaching us that the Sabbath was made for the man not the man for the Sabbath. A hard saying considering the lives lost in punishment for not observing the Sabbath, yet also a revelation of an essential component necessary for our spiritual and physical health. Sabbath was a pause on life. A pause on inward focused life to focus on God, and as such, today, we attempt to, in small measure, exercise the spiritual discipline of pushing pause on life to focus on God, even if for only two hours. Two hours, hopefully, of devoted attention.

This Wednesday – August 30th – Family Time & Daniel Bible Study

On Wednesday, we will meet in person for our Family Time at 6:00PM for those of you who want to bring their meal and eat it in the company of other brothers and sisters. This is our bi-weekly fellowship meal.

From 7PM, We will continue our Bible Study on the Book of Daniel.

Birthdays this week: Leslie Florescu (28th); Fran Birdwell (28th); Maureen Tomes (30th)

After Services Sunday Fellowship

Instead of going to restaurants with long wait times and overpriced food, several of us have decided to hang around at church after services bringing a dish to share. Originally it was just bringing your own lunch, but it developed in a potluck of sorts. Feel free to hang around. There is always the opportunity to play a ball or table game as well if anyone so chooses.

World Bible School

I’ve been thinking about a way to engage as many of our number as possible in an evangelistic/missionary effort and I thought that World Bible School could offer us that opportunity. Check out https://worldbibleschool.org/ and please let me know if you would be willing to be involved.

Offering

This morning besides the offering plate, you can as always have the option to make your contribution online at https://troychurch.net/give

If neither one of these options are suitable, please send a check to Lisa Jones. Her address is in the directory. Thank you.

We bring our requests to you O Lord:

For those who have suffered loss: Oja & Pryludko Families, Wright Family; Clary Family; Timmy Price’s Family

For the people of Ukraine

Evangelism is not a professional job for a few trained men, but is instead the unrelenting responsibility of every person who belongs to the company of Jesus.- D. Elton Trueblood
