Minister’s Corner

Shalom aleikhem! שָׁלוֹם עֲלֵיכֶם Peace be upon you!

καλό μήνα Kalo mina, A good month to you at this beginning of a new month. I pray you have woken to a beautiful morning and are filled with the desire to worship. You see, for millennia, ever since mankind was created, people everywhere have been driven by an innate desire to worship. In modern times the focus of worship has been quite different than what I grew up with, where reverence and silence were the norm. The balance between give and get in worship is so hard to achieve and, as a result, many churches have to rely on artistic craft in order to achieve, or I should perhaps say, imitate the real “get” of worship. The GET you feel when you truly are able to commune with the Father in worship. When you empty yourself of the world and let God fill you up with the Spirit. I pray this morning is one of those mornings for you, when your closeness to God is not determined by anything external but by your heart, by your focus on Him.

This Wednesday – September 9th – Family Time & Bible Study

This Wednesday I invite those of you who are willing to come join us at the building from 6:00 PM for our Family Time dinner. Bring your takeout or brown bag at the building and have it together with us.

From 7:00 PM we will continue our study of the Book of Isaiah corresponding with our collective Bible reading. By this Wednesday we should have read chapters 1 through 43 of Isaiah. Please send me your questions so I can prepare the lesson. Thank you.

Birthdays this week: Ada McCauley (9th)

Bible Reading – Tuesday & Friday – 7:30 PM to 8:00 PM

On Tuesday we will read Isaiah 41, 42 & 43 (I do have a game from 6PM so Gianna would have to start it) and on Friday, Isaiah 44, 45 & 46. Please join us from 7:30 to read God’s Word together. The Apostles and the 1st century Church were daily in the Word together.

Small Groups

The Covid-19 pandemic put a stop to most people’s plans in 2020 and especially in many church plans. I was hoping in 2020 we will start a healthy small group ministry in our congregation. We’ve started the Bible Reading, which kind of acts like a small group but the vision of a small group reaches far beyond our Bible Reading group. I currently have commitments Monday and Thursday evenings as well as every other evening of the week but would like to start a conversation and planning for a small group Thursday Evenings for when my season is over. I would appreciate some suggestion of what would be of interest to most of you in studying during a small group.

Offering

Don’t forget, for your convenience and safety you can still make your offering on line at http://www.troychurch.net/give

We will not pass an offering tray/plate around. If you want to make your offering via cash or check please place it in the offering tray/plate as you exit the auditorium. Thank you.

God, Guys & Guns Men’s Retreat
