Minister’s Corner

Shalom aleikhem! שָׁלוֹם עֲלֵיכֶם Peace be upon you!

I pray that this new beginning of month finds you well and at peace  indeed. καλό μήνα (kalo mina) a good month to you and all your loved ones. May the God of Grace and Mercy bless you and yours with love and peace, with health and enough abundance for you to be a blessing to all around you.

Although I will not be able to physically be able to be with you today, hopefully I will be able to join you on Zoom if we can jump on an available connection. Coverage is very spotty in the West Virginian hills and mountains. Nevertheless, my prayers and the prayers of my family are for your assembly to be infused with God’s Spirit and for your hearts to be overtaken by His peace and strength. We love you and look forward to joining you again soon. Shalom aleikhem!

This Wednesday – August 5th – Family Time & Bible Study

This Wednesday I invite those of you who are willing to come join us at the building from 6:00 PM for our Family Time dinner. Bring your takeout or brown bag and “social distancing” at the building we will share a meal together.

From 7:00 PM we will continue our study of the commands in the New Testament. Please read Luke 12 in preparation. We will have this study in person and also via Zoom for those who will be joining us from home.

Bible Reading

We will begin again this week to read the Bible together but in a condensed format as I have coaching obligations Monday and Thursday evenings from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM. We will therefore read on Tuesday and Friday evenings from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM, beginning with August 4th.

VBS in a Box 2020

The elementary students and youngest of our congregation will be learning about Building/Construction and how that relates to spiritual themes. The teens' theme expands that a little… or maybe it is actually a bit more specific! When we build and construct, we are usually building things for our home, ourselves, our communities, and our friends and family.

Recently, with COVID-19, home may have changed into something a little different than it has been before. Or maybe it just made some functions of home more important than they had been in the past.

No matter where home is, what it looks like, who is inside, or what is happening outside of our door, Christians are encouraged to BUILD a Christian life within our HOME.

So, with those thoughts in mind…welcome to your VBS in a Box 2020 theme: Building Up, Building Home.

Thank you, Pamela McCauley, for listening to the Spirit and single handedly creating, organizing, and making this VBS possible for the Troy teens & kids!

Offering

Don’t forget, for your convenience and safety you can still make your offering on line at http://www.troychurch.net/give

We will not pass an offering tray/plate around. If you want to make your offering via cash or check please place it in the offering tray/plate as you exit the auditorium. Thank you.
