Minister’s Corner
Good morning and welcome to our last worship gathering of 2019. Thank you for choosing to be with us this morning. I pray that in 2019 you were able to feel the Lord’s blessings in the good times as well as the difficult times. Every year end we like to think back over the things that happened this year and evaluate. It is a good exercise in self-awareness but also a good way to evaluate our relationship with the Lord. Apostle John tells us that “… if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.” (1 John 1:7), so at the end of this year, do you find yourself further along on the path, or do you find you’ve kind of detoured a little bit? You know what they say, there is no better time than the present time so whether things are on track, or things have gotten of course, today is a great day to grab hold of the hand of grace that God keeps extended to us. “22 The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; 23 they are new every morning; great is His faithfulness.” (Lamentations 3:22-23) So whether it is a new day, as this morning, or a new year, as we are about to celebrate in two days, God is ready for us. So, no matter our age, our status or our stage of life let us commit today that this day and this new year will be the best yet in our walk with Christ! SHALOM & A Happy New Year to you!
This Wednesday – January 1st – Family Time & Peak of the Week
Come and start the year right. Bring your takeout dinner to the church building on Wednesday from 6:00 PM and enjoy it in the company of brothers and sisters in Christ. Family dinners are essential for the health of a family and so is this one.
From 7:00 PM we will continue the viewing of Chosen, the new series on the life of our Lord. This episode is called The Rock on Which it is Built and gives a little more creative introspect on the life of Peter and his brother before their calling by Jesus.
Birthdays this week: Jon Balun (today); Foy Palmer (2nd)
Anniversaries this week: Keith & Lora Price (2nd)
2020 Church Calendar
Next Sunday I will have our tentative 2020 calendar in the fellowship room for anyone to verify/edit/add/suggest dates for birthdays, anniversaries and our main events.
Men’s Breakfast
In 2019 we held our men’s breakfast from 8:30 AM on the 3rd Sunday of each month. This seems to be an inconvenient time for most of the men in the congregation so for 2020 I am accepting suggestion for a better time and day that would create the possibility for most of the men of the congregation to attend. Please drop your suggested time and days of the week in the Suggestion Box in the hallway, by the front door. Thank you in advance!
Ebrahim Firouzi Update
Ebrahim Firouzi (33) has spent over six years in prison in Iran on charges relating to his Christian activities. That is a total of 2,257 days. A former Muslim, he comes from Robat-Karim, 25 km southwest of Tehran. We praise God for Ebrahim’s release and thank you for your faithful prayers on his behalf. Ebrahim went into forced internal exile in the remote southeastern town of Sarbaz, where he must spend two years as part of his sentence. He arrived in Sarbaz on 12 November and is renting a small house. He is required to sign at the court office every day to prove his residence in the city. Ebrahim says he is in good health. Please continue to pray for him even though we will remove him from our list this week.
