Minister’s Welcome

Good morning and welcome to today’s gathering of God’s family in Troy. The Bible tells us that through Jesus we have received adoption as sons and daughters of God, so saying “God’s family” is not just a nice terminology to throw around but a fact. We’ve been talking a lot about facts, as listed by Paul in the letter to the churches of Galatia. Paul states it as a fact that he, as every Christian, has been crucified with Christ. That he no longer lives but Christ lives in Him and as a result, the life he lived in flesh, he lived by faith in the Son of God Who loved him, and Who loves us, and gave His life for us. In view of these facts, Paul encourages, urges, the people of Galatia as well as you and I, to choose Freedom. Today we will dive into chapter 3 of Galatians and follow Paul’s line of reasoning in the principles that should be at the foundation of our lives.

I hope you had a good week, but even if this was a week of trial there are plenty of reasons to praise. Welcome Home! Share your burdens and joys with us. Love us and let us love you! Sing, pray and be encouraged for you are not alone and there is a Spirit that battles life together with us. Jesus called Him a Teacher and a Comforter with good reason. Open your heart!

This Wednesday – October 25thPOTLUCK and Peak of the Week

This Wednesday is our Birthdays and Anniversaries Potluck Wednesday. Please come and celebrate those born or with anniversaries in October. Jeremy Parent is going to do a fish fry so there will be some really tasty walleye present as well. Some of you may elect to bring side dishes that go well with fish, please talk to Jeremy or Manu about it so we can coordinate right.

Anniversaries: Ron & Linda Palmer, Jim & Ellen Madson, Jim & Dorothy Warren, Gene & Mary Alice Cowie

From 7:00PM to 8:00PM we will have our Peak of the Week and Charles Tomes will lead our discussion on Psalm 5.

Halloween at Troy – October 30th – 6:30PM – 8:30PM – One week away

For several years now, Troy Church has become recognized as a welcoming Halloween gathering spot with warm cider and cider doughnuts. Many people from the neighborhood and their children stop by to warm up with cider and have a doughnut. At times people have been entertained and taught about the Bible through scary things, like Lazarus coming out of the tomb, or the labyrinth of the 10 plagues of Egypt. At other times we’ve entertained our guests with games and challenges. This year I would like to have several “minute to win it” games for children to play, as well as for their parents. I would ask your help in providing some prizes (dollar store) for kids as well as for adults. I will have a box out in the hallway next Sunday where you can drop off these prizes. We also accept donations for cider and doughnuts, as well as candy and invite you to come be a part of this fun event.

Bible Break – October 24th @ 9:30

For the first few weeks we will continue the study of Priscilla Shirer’s book FERVANT which we began this summer. Then we will begin her study on THE ARMOR OF GOD. All ladies are welcome and encouraged to share in this time of Bible study and fellowship. This ministry continues to bless those who are able to attend. Please let neighbors, friends and family know about this class. For questions see Mary Clary, Bobbie Westerby or Nancy Schroeder.

Volleyball – 6PM

The weather predicted for this evening between 6 and 8PM is no rain, 72 to 69 degrees and 11 to 9 mph wind so we will try and have a volleyball, music and fun evening. Please come out and play.
