Minister’s Corner

Good morning and welcome to our worship gathering! If you are here, that means you’ve successfully survived this weekend’s winter storm, in itself a good reason to praise God this morning. I am happy to see you here!

We are continuing our journey in seeking after Christ this morning. It is pretty common for those who profess faith in Christ to ask of others if they are “seeking the Lord,” or if they’ve “found the Lord,” BUT… what are they really asking? How does one SEEK the Lord today? Practically speaking…? The first answer given by the vast majority would probably be “by reading the Bible” or studying the Bible, and although the answer is most definitely right, it may not be sufficient. And,… in reading the Bible, how do we really seek the Lord? This morning we’ll explore this subject, but until then, please join me in praising God through song, through prayer, through an abandon of our hearts, bear, before Him that His Spirit may touch us in all the ways He only can to build us up in faith & strength for this new week ahead.

This Wednesday – January 22^nd – Family Time & another Chosen episode

Bring your takeout dinner to the church building on Wednesday from 6:00 PM and enjoy it in the company of brothers and sisters in Christ…

From 7:00 PM we will continue the viewing of Chosen, the new series on the life of our Lord. This episode is called Indescribable Compassion and gives a little more creative introspect on the healing of the paralytic dropped through the roof by his friends.

Family Movie Night – This Friday from 7:00PM - Overcomer

Overcomer is a 2019 American Christian drama film directed by Alex Kendrick. The idea that resulted in Overcomer came to Alex Kendrick in 2011 while he was visiting cross-country events for children: Please visit http://www.troychurch.net/calendar for a link to the Trailer of this movie. As always, I provide the popcorn, bring your own beverage.

Men’s Breakfast/Gathering

Last week for making suggestions regarding the time and day of the week for the Men’s Breakfast/Gathering. So far, it looks like Gary & I will be having coffee time on the 3^rd Saturday evening each month…

Wang Yi – held now for 407 days

Pastor Wang Yi is the influential leader of Early Rain Covenant Church in the city of Chengdu, Sichuan province - one of the best-known house churches in China.

A former law professor, Pastor Wang has been vocal in calling on the state to uphold religious liberties. In July 2019, the defense lawyer for Pastor Wang Yi was barred from meeting with his client and officials assigned different lawyers to his case, even though he specifically chose his own lawyers prior to his arrest.

On Dec. 30, Pastor Wang Yi was sentenced to 9 years in prison after a secret Dec. 26 trial. He was charged with “instigating subversion of state power” and “illegal business management” for being the senior pastor of Early Rain Covenant Church. Along with the 9 years sentence, he was sentenced to deprivation of his political rights for 3 years plus a $7,000 penalty.
