Minister’s Corner

I am grateful to God to see you here today. I thank you for being here as well. Your presence here today is an encouragement to me, and I know, to others in the congregation. We are walking through the journey of Advent toward Christmas and today we will be lighting the LOVE candle. We’ve talked about the FAITH and HOPE candles, acknowledging that God is always in control and that He is not delaying in keeping His promise but that He is tirelessly at work so that all may come to the knowledge of Christ and thus be saved. And this is indeed our HOPE that as God kept His promise of the Messiah, He will keep His promise and the Messiah will come again. We are waiting for this promise to be fulfilled.

The Bible is clear, as expressed in John 3:16 that “16 … God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” Last week Jon was talking about gift giving as an expression of love, and the Bible tells us that is exactly how God expresses His love to us, but there is a bit more to LOVE than gift giving and we will be talking about it today. Thanks again for being here.

This Wednesday – December 18^th – POTLUCK & Family Movie Night

This Wednesday from 6 PM we will have our POTLUCK birthdays and anniversaries celebrations for December. Please come out to honor and celebrate your brothers and sisters born in December, as well as those who marked another landmark in their marital journey. Bring a dish to share please.

From 7PM we will have our Family Movie Night. Originally, I was going to show the movie inspired by a Max Lucado story, called The Christmas Candle. However, I will let majority choose between The Christmas Candle & Charlie Brown Christmas.

Church Questionnaire - update

Thank you in advance for your dedication to this process. Although this may be a little bit of an unusual process, I want to assure you all that there are no right or wrong answers. Well, biblically there might be some wrong answers but as your Minister, that is not what I am after.

1. I wanted us to have this questionnaire because it helps me to understand you better and is of great help to me as I think and prepare my sermon series in 2020.
2. I wanted us as a congregation to come to a common denominator in regard to purpose & how practically we fulfill that purpose.
3. I want you to have a clear understanding of how you fit in God’s purpose at Troy.

This questionnaire does not have as a purpose to guilt you into any type of additional work. I want to make it clear that it is between you & God, ALWAYS, in regard to the things you do or don’t do, the amount of time you give or don’t give to the Church. What I do want is for each one of us to be certain of our calling.
